Biography
On June 2nd, 1984 G.Hicks notoriously known as "Agonee" was born. The son of Albertha Rabain Hicks, a principal and Leroy Hicks, a retired teacher, Agonee grew up in the streets of the Bronx in New York City on Boston Road and Corsa Avenue. A young man rebellious but hungry, with a pen and a pad, could make the world especially the streets stop and feel his words as if it were theirs.
Growing up in these streets Agonee felt as if it was home. He felt as though the streets had embraced his unique qualities and personality in a way that in his home was not accounted for as being a man. His upbringing was mostly streetwise and felt whatever he had to learn it would've have to come from the streets of NY. As many young men and women of NY, Agonee felt the need to take the surroundings he was exposed to and convert it into something more positive. To him it was music.
Over the years, he grew to write lyrics of his own through experiences he had gone through and seen. As he kept on he grew stronger and wiser even to the point where he can honestly say he is a few steps away from perfecting his craft.
Agonee was influenced immensely by the late but great Biggie Smalls, Jay-Z, and Big "L." These artists have had an enormous impact on his life and steered him to, as they did, bring something different to the industry. Motivation, hunger for success, and versatility is what Agonee is bringing to the game. "When I arrive on the scene, you gonna have to work in order to survive. I'm shutting da game down."
Currently Agonee has completed his first mixtape, "Ghet-tonez Presents Agonee" which can be heard by contacting the Ghet-tonez via e-mail @ ghet-tones@hotmail.com. Agonee has also worked with artists such as Dirty of Trillville and Cory Gunz. You can catch Agonee at many of NYC's open mic showcases.
