A Vinyl Junkie since '96, Nick started spinning Detroit Gettotech/Booty. Producing this motor-city flavor in the group, Pilots of Consciousness the duo constisting of Synaptic and Silky Slim (Ayers) soon progressed to hiphop and drum n bass. After releasing the EP "Welcome to the Higher Level" in 2000 the two parted ways and Nick went on to live instrumentation and self production. The moniker "BeatNick" was created and Ayers became a master of percussion after studying with Don Pandiero in Sao Paulo, Brasil who has 60 years of latin rhythm in his blood. Nick soon started recording with The Feel Goods in an effort to advance his expertice in the audio engineering field. He currently plays drums and sings in the The Naughty Drop, a knock you on your ass funk band out of Ann Arbor, MI and teaches music technology and turntablism to high schoolers at a local teen center. word.
