Funkybird was founded in early 2004 by a group of musicians who saw a need for soulful instrumental music in the Southeast United States. Given every member's diverse background in multiple instruments, the group quickly constructed a unique sound rooted in the funky sounds of The Meters and their brethern. In October of 2004 the band laid down 13 live tracks in a mere 12 hours using their signature sample/loops that allow them to layer multiple instruments at any given time. The result was a near flawless effort that has garnered worldwide praise from those priveledged and adventurous few who have experienced Funkybird.
